Six Secret Santa generators compared on the same eight criteria, from a free web draw with no account to apps with wish lists. Glad You Liked is first as the best for experience gifts in Barcelona; the other five are ranked by how many criteria each one meets, using only what their own sites say.

The only tool here where the gift is part of the draw. Names are drawn online for 3 to 50 people, couples can be kept apart, and anyone who hasn’t chosen gets reminders 7 and 3 days before the exchange. Each person then gives their person a class, a tasting or a dinner from a Barcelona maker, within the group’s budget, and the organiser can cover anyone who forgets with a gift card. The limits: it works in Barcelona only for now, everyone signs in, and there is no app.

2Amigo Invisible (juegoamigoinvisible.com)
A Spanish site that says it is free to create the draw and send the basic invitations, with no registration. You choose how people hear who they got: WhatsApp, Telegram or email. Exclusions keep couples or siblings apart. Wish lists and saved draws sit behind a login, and the site offers Spanish, Catalan, Galician and Basque. Its app offers a 15-day free trial; the price after that isn’t shown.

3DrawNames
Free, and you can draw names with no account. Invitations go out by email, text message or WhatsApp, exclusions are available once the group is big enough, and everyone can keep a wish list. There are iPhone and Android apps. The site sends each visitor to a local version by country.

4Secret Santa Organizer
Says it is completely and permanently free, paid for by ads, with no account and no app. You share the party by link or email invitations, set who can’t draw whom, and every participant writes a wish list. It is available in 17 languages. It needs at least 3 people.

5Elfster
Free. Elfster draws the names, lets you set draw restrictions so couples, roommates or siblings don’t get each other, and gives everyone a wish list. Invitations go by email or text, and there are iPhone and Android apps. Gift shopping is built in, with links that can earn Elfster a commission, as the site says. The app itself is in English.

6Amigo Invisible Online (amigoinvisibleonline.com)
A long-running Spanish site: the draw is free and needs no registration, and each player gets their name by email or through a personal WhatsApp link. Exclusions are supported, and big groups can be uploaded from Excel. Resending a failed email, adding a forgotten player or seeing who gives to whom are paid extras; the site says they cost about as much as a coffee but shows no price. Spanish only.
